In 2023, the GLS offered two powertrain options: an inline-six, turbo 3.0-liter engine producing 362 horsepower, and a V8, turbo 4.0-liter engine generating 483 horsepower. Both came with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive, an adaptive air suspension, and a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. These powertrain options are also available in the 2024 model year. However, the inline-six engine now boasts 375 horsepower, and the V8 engine delivers 510 horsepower. What's more, the more powerful engine can be equipped with an Off-Road Engineering package for the first time in 2024. This package allows the air suspension system to increase ground clearance by 1.2 inches, providing enhanced underbody protection.

Appearance

The latest GLS has received updates to both its interior and exterior designs. Inside the 2024 model, you'll find a selection of new color options and a redesigned steering wheel. The exterior features revised taillights and a modernized front end. The grille boasts a fresh look with thick, wide horizontal bars. This bar theme is also echoed in the reshaped air vents, now outlined by a dark, molded element. The LED headlights have been restyled with short and sweeping upper light bars.
